Malaysia-based mobile broadband and networking solution developer Green Packet and US-based WiMAX solution supplier GCT Semiconductor have teamed up on the development of an intelligent connection management solution facilitating smooth connectivity and handover between Wi-Fi and WiMAX, according to a report by TMCnet.

Codenamed Intouch Connectivity Manager, the solution incorporates Green Packet's mobile IP solution and GCT's GDM7215 single-chip WiMAX plus Wi-Fi IC. In addition to WiMAX and Wi-Fi, Intouch Connectivity Manager also supports multiple connection modes including WAN (Wide Area Network) and LAN (Local Area Network). Green Packet plans to roll out this technology via its subsidiary Packet One Networks, the largest WiMAX operator in Malaysia.
